It seems that new enterprise and SMB-class computers were not all that Lenovo had planned for CES 2010. Made publicly just before the start of the show, the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid tablet PC is an 11.6-inch multitouch system that’s part laptop, part slate tablet and part smartbook. Ohhh this is another wow for this year from Lenovo. I currently owned the Lenovo ideapad 10.2 with 1GB of RAM, Intel Atom N70 processor which is just suited for my net activities and planning to make this stuff in addition.
How that could be? The 1.7kg system reportedly has a retractable multitouch screen that can unhinge from the main computer body–which houses an ultra-low voltage Intel Core 2 Duo processor running Windows 7 Home Premium–and work on its own as a slate tablet, thanks to an embedded Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 16GB solid state drive and a Linux environment.
Take note of the numbers: Two processors and two operating systems.
The device is accounted to be available in June for almost US$1k in the United States. Lenovo did say it had more tricks up its sleeve for revealing during CES 2010, so I’ll be looking for it to appear in the flesh on the showfloor.
I can still Watch Movies Online Free with this so cool. Watch out for great stuff coming to you this 2010 on CES.
LAS VEGAS -The company behind the magicJack, the cheap Internet phone gadget that’s been heavily promoted on TV, has made a new version of the device that allows free calls from cell phones in the home, in a fashion that’s sure to draw protest from cellular carriers.
The new magicJack uses, without permission, radio frequencies for which cellular carriers have paid billions of dollars for exclusive licenses.
YMax Corp., which is based in Palm Beach, Fla., said this week at the International Consumers Electronics Show that it plans to start selling the device in about four months for $40, the same price as the original magicJack. As before, it will provide free calls to the U.S. and Canada for one year.
The device is, in essence, a very small cellular tower for the home.
The size of a deck of cards, it plugs into a PC, which needs a broadband Internet connection. The device then detects when a compatible cell phone comes within 8 feet, and places a call to it. The user enters a short code on the phone. The phone is then linked to the magicJack, and as long as it’s within range (YMax said it will cover a 3,000-square-foot home) magicJack routes the call itself, over the Internet, rather than going through the carrier’s cellular tower. No minutes are subtracted from the user’s account with the carrier. Any extra fees for international calls are subtracted from the user’s account with magicJack, not the carrier.

It wasn’t much of a secret, really, but the sleek, Android-powered Nexus One is finally here, and yes: you can buy it directly from Google, over the Web. As expected, the unlocked, no-contract Nexus One will cost you a pretty penny, but subsidized versions will also be available from T-Mobile and … what’s this, Verizon Wireless? You betcha. Announced Tuesday during a press conference at Google’s Mountain View headquarters, the Nexus One (designed by phone maker HTC under Google’s strict supervision) is available for purchase right now on Google’s new Web store rather than through a carrier—a twist that some observers see as a paradigm shift in the wireless market, where the balance of power is usually tipped in the carrier’s favor.
Then again, Google is sticking with the practice of charging an arm and a leg for an unlocked, no-contract handset. If you want it unlocked for use with any SIM card and without a contract, the phone will set you back a cool $530. Here in the U.S., you’ll be able to use the Nexus One with either an AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card; that said, AT&T users will only be able to tap into the carrier’s EDGE data network, while T-Mobile customers can use both EDGE and 3G.

We may have just come across something that may convert dedicated BlackBerry users to finally using the iPhone. The iPhone is getting a KEYBOARD called iTwinge, a real feel and tactile keyboard for those who thought their big thumbs would never allow them to use the touchscreen version. Launching tomorrow for $29.99, you can type as fast as you would on a standard QWERTY keypad. Watch the SMS mistakes and typos disappear – maybe. So how does it work? The iTwinge slips on to the bottom of the iPhone and wallah your iPhone has a full fledged QWERTY physical keyboard. It will support the iPhone 3G and 3G S, however it doesn’t look that comfortable in the pictures but I guess its better than nothing.

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - – Microsoft is touting freshly-launched Internet Explorer 8 as its champion in the competitive Web browser arena, urging holdouts to upgrade from earlier versions of the software.
IE 8 has been catching on since its release five months ago, but Microsoft is hoping to leave behind aging IE 6 as well as much-maligned Vista after Windows 7 operating system launches in October.
Despite being released nine years ago, IE 6 still claims 27.2 percent of the browser market, according to figures released in July by Net Applications.
“The reason to still be on IE 6 at this point is lack of awareness, or the ‘good-enough’ problem that people are satisfied with what they are using,” said Amy Barzdukas, general manager of IE and consumer security at Microsoft.
“Particularly in this economy, it is difficult to be cavalier and just say update to IE 8.”
Schools, hospitals and other cash-strapped operations could be daunted by the cost of upgrading computer systems to new software.
IE 6 also tends to be used with pirated versions of Windows XP operating system because newer software is better designed to expose illegitimate copies, according to Barzdukas.
Microsoft reports seeing more XP use in emerging economies such as Brazil and India where piracy rates are higher than in the United States.

After seeing this phone during the beijing olympics, I am eager to have the phone for my personal use. At first, I was a nokia phone fanatic as what I have stated in my previous blogs. I have friends who own slim notebooks such as MSI wind and never complain about its features. I have also the chance to borrow it to test its capability to satisfy my urge of owning one. Currently I have my desktop and a gateway laptop. The latter has now a broken LCD. It’s getting darker and darker now. I have tried to bring it to a certified computer hardware technician who is capable of fixing it but have no results at all. Now my question is what to get given these 2 options? I have tried the MSI wind and it looks ok. My brother-in-law showed me the Lenovo S10 and think about getting it instead of an MSI wind. Aside from the price, of course the comparison about the quality, its performance & features is of course needed to be considered. Never let a trend pass it by even a year or so after its hit prime time. Lenovo is getting into the low-cost notebook game with the IdeaPad S10 after the MSI WIND.
Having these gadgets (if possible) will bring you delightful experiences. Aside from its sleek designs and cool features, these gadgets are really good to own for your personal computing needs. There are no huge surprises to be found in the Lenovo S10, but the stuff impresses you at every turn. Lenovo S10 weights for 2.7 pounds featuring the now-standard 1.6-GHz Atom CPU and 1 GB of RAM. Another modest upgrade puts a 160-GB hard drive at your disposal, the largest among all I have used. Performance isn’t that perfect yet as what I have read, but compared to the category, it’s at the top.
The build quality is better, and the styling makes it very nice. Wind seems like a toy in comparison. The matte finish is nice, much better than the glossy back of the Wind. Maybe this is why I have written mostly in favor of Lenovo S10 because I am decided to get this stuff too after seeing it from my brother-in-law. Maybe I have to write more about it when I finally have it.
